Kiedra was charming her way in wasn’t she? Not the worst way
for sure, Pee Wee needed this, someone he could trust but would
joke, kid, and tease without it hurting his feelings, and I’m sure
she did just that!
I would of said something like “When I touched the door, a strange
voice warned me away” or something like that. Slimy seemed to be
very receptive to the basic ideas, but that guy, I feel I should check
my back and count my fingers and toes! It would be for the best if
they did stay neutral, but I highly doubt they would really be happy
with just that. Tooo inherently greedy for money/power. Reminds me
too much of the ’80s Yuppies, one almost killed my father “getting
him out of the way” got him demoted all the way from first engineer
back to the storeroom, which lead to him having his first heart attack
Grrrrr…
And chances are rising that another Core World is now out of the war.
But if five ships carry so much weight, it does look like that the Core
Worlds did prioritize control over profit. We have seen the signs before,
No wonder the Dragons are in to help a new party that is out to
change things.
Considering everything, a war with the Empire would probably
cause less destruction than the Fringe Worlds revolting. Sure, the
Core Worlds would probably win in a military sense, but their
economies would be in shambles which could turn to civil unrest
or even civil war.
It is interesting to see the Core Worlds already loosing battles in a
war that many of them haven’t even realized yet that it had begon.
Very true, at least for now. It’s clear that it’s the leaders,
not the everyday person that is the problem. The Empire
does have a long history of breaking bad governments up
without really doing anything but show what the
“everyman/woman” what life could be like without those
greedy fools.
5 trading ships each carrying critical freight of up to 5 tons in
half the time and nearly as much costs would make a huge
difference. I don’t know what the weight limit of these ships
are but I’m sure it’s much higher that the core ships can.
Most of the costs are the manpower and the maintenance
on the ships, one thing I’ve learned over the years, repairs
always costs more in the long run than the machines do new.
All of the Fringe worlds are already, if not Imperial members,
are in good terms, and at least 2 core worlds are in decent,
if not secretly, have good terms if not treaties. The war will
be over soon, without a serious shots fired on either side,
for now… if the grav tech is stolen or discovered by ANY of
the core worlds, there will be at least a civil war fought within
the counsels members for dominance. Earth and Catia would be
next…
Up until now, the Core freighters didn’t have to worry about efficiency.
The Imperial freighters were built with efficiency as a major consideration.
Thy use much less fuel and are heavily automated, with a much smaller crew.
Imperial freighters are also designed to be much more durable. So they are
more expensive to lease or purchase, their useful life span and overall
efficiency make them much more competitive.
Not to mention more dispersed maintenance and repair facilities. Right now
if a Core ship has a major problem, it must return to the Core for repairs.
An Imperial ship can choose from two repair facilities on opposite sides of
inhabited space, Catia and Dogishua. There will be more built later.
>So they are more expensive to lease or purchase, their useful
life span and overall efficiency make them much more competitive.
All too often penny pinchers only look at the purchase invoice,
and ignore the Total Cost of Ownership. If they can even think
deeply enough to tally all the factors in the TCO. Not just purchase,
fuel, repairs. Number of crew, can get more done with fewer, but
well trained, crew. Retaining a good (expensive) crew is still cheaper
then constant training and lost productivity of churning noobies.
Repeat business from satisfied customers because well maintained ship
on schedule, with knowledgeable crew that reduces cargo problems,
allows your customers to receive all the product to keep their customers
happy. and… and… and…
But some of those are difficult to measure, or in a different
departments budget, or not this quarters P&L. Or can be ignored long
enough to get this quarters (maybe next as well) bonus, then move to
some other job :{
That is also the difference between publicly owned and privately
owned businesses. Stockholders want immediate profits, while
private owners look at the long-term results for future generations
of their families. In general, of course. Sometimes,
a private owner will only want to hit-and-git.
i don’t trust Slimon,. after that out-burst
he ‘meeked’ to quickly…
I wouldn’t either,
anyone that flips that easily is the last one I’d trust.
Reminds me of too many “yes men” I’ve met over the years.
Either he’s giving up for now, or he figured out what a schlong is
but I think it would just enrage him….
“Gremloids”? Huh? Have we seen them before?
Can somebody jog an old fart’s memory?
Little guy’s, pointy ears, big eyes, kinda
reminded me of Gizmo from the gremlin movies.
Basically hairless to I believe,
or at least very short fur.
When the Catia’s Pride first started visiting the fringe worlds, panel 7:
