Ah ha! I knew something was up since he backed down so fast.
I don’t think he’s up to no good, just has a reason to talk to Sunny.
Possibly what I mentioned about the Dragonflies being an ideal recon
and deep infiltration? Any real-life marine would love to have that
in the field! Capt Chardis didn’t mind much that Spirit had popped
over to the pirate ships to check them out.
I hope Jonas and Sunny won’t mind being in recon.
Glad to see Ka and Po are curious about Taritha and her people,
clearly the P’tero are reasonable folk and only want to know who
and what about new people. I’m sure the Empire will come up as
well.
Sgt Markham is thinking what I suspect he is he best kick up
the line if not try to contact Teresa and Kathy directly. I doubt
the Dragons would care but the Dragonflies are very picky
about who they talk to much less bond with. A lot depends
on how he knows of them since they do try very hard to stay
out of the public eye.
Other than the universal morals about murder and theft morals
are largely topographical, the age of consent in the USA is 18
but in Japan it’s 14, legal drinking age in the USA is state by state
but in many countries it doesn’t exist. I could go on but I’d rather
not there’s just too much to cover between the social, religious,
and legal morals of each areas.
In most European countries it’s somewhere between 14 and 16
but the age of the older partner is also to take into consideration.
Basically, a consenting act between two 15 year olds is probably
legally acceptable.
Side note: legally growing up is treated like a process in Germany.
At seven your old enough to buy “small things” with your own money,
At fourteen your considered old enough
to commit criminal acts willfully.
At sixteen your old enough to drink beer or other “weak” alcohol.
And in some regions you’re old enough to vote in local elections.
You need to be seventeen for your driver license (provisioned you
drive under supervision of your parents)
At eighteen you’re considered an adult in most ways: drink what
you want, smoke, vote, drive without supervision, run for most
elections, choose your own way of life and place living …
(Criminal courts will take your age and your “maturity” into
consideration when deciding the punishment for a while longer)
it changes often too on many fronts Like in ’82 When i met my wife
she was only 17 and I couldn’t touch her age of consent was 18 in
Indiana but where she was from in Kentucky it was 16 so she
thought since I didn’t react to her advances I had to be gay or
something HEHEH… No I just didn’t want to risk a rape charge!
I started to write to her almost 2 years later while I was recovering
from my car accident that we got together.
There’s a web comic somewhere which gets a lot of drama out of the
protagonist sleeping with a seventeen year old girl (he’s 18 or 19)
and only then learning her age.
He’s shocked “what have I done!!”, wants to keep the relationship
going but keep things non-sexual, eventually they break up and
drama drama drama.
Some 500 pages later, after the turned 18 and they reconnected
they find out that she’s been “legal” all along, since they
only had assumed “eighteen or jail” and never bothered to check.
I was 22 at the time and she was related to my sister’s first husband
so it was dicey. Plus my elder sister and her husband tried to “help”
a similar couple and spent 6 months in jail for adding and abiding.
I felt like I had a target painted on my back. I hadn’t dated much
since that other girl I mentioned died, so my father just just looked
at me after I had recovered from accident and said
“would you just write her!” so I did.
What I read about laws and how they’re executed concerning sexual
relationships in the US is pretty disturbing.
(I still can remember how being a hormone addled teenager felt)
Granted, maybe that’s just the filtering – news about the lives
of teenagers must be extreme to make it across the pond.
For example there’s supposed to be a case where a 17 year old boy
was sexting his girlfriend (around the same age), the policy – for
whatever reason – apprehended their phones and found his pictures.
He was found guilty for spreading porn of a minor (himself)
and punished as an adult (because he was “almost 18”).
So now he’s probably a registered sex offender?
Over here the police would have to have a real good reason
to search anybody’s phone. And if it’s a minor they’d
have to involve the parents, too.
And even if they did find those pics they’d
probably just lecture him about being stupid.
https://reason.com/2016/09/13/romeo-and-juliet-and-sexting-17-year-old/
it was another case of “Law enforcement” lying.. or why not to, let
them – without lawyer / warrant!
in the US, most cases are , a parent (usually her father) involves
the law,, because threatening bodily harm, just drives em closer..
and makes “daddy” look bad,. ware as the law can keep em apart,
and make the kids life Hell.!
Before the fictional scifi Locust Transporter PC is fond of there
was a real world transport aircraft built on the same principle.
It was called the Fairchild XC120 Packplane.
Here is a YouTube video about it: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=H1GFsYGRjFg
Ah my mistake I mistook this as a list not just about the Packplane
The one I watched also included the pidgin-piloted missiles. It seemed
to work but I could see the problems in later years with the animal
activists.
I can see why there would stability issues, dropping off the cargo
would completely change the plane’s aerodynamics, it wouldn’t
be able to takeoff and land in bad weather as well.
I read a book decades ago about allied “secret weapons” and it included a part about the
U.S. made “smart missiles” steered by pigeons. According to the chapter, the pigeons
were trained to peck at certain types of images. The target was projected on a screen with
wires embedded (a VERY early touch screen) in it and wired such that if the image was off
center the pigeon’s pecking would be translated to corrections.applied to the device’s
steering vanes. Supposedly it was VERY accurate. Unfortunately, IMS, the idea was nixed
on “humanitarian” grounds. Plus it might have presented a logistics challenge. But still it
shows that folks on the allied side were.capable of out-of-the-box thinking. The book was
one of a two book set. One covered German secret weapons; the other was about
Allied “wonder weapons”. I remember one the Germans built which was a sonic cannon.
Essentially it was a pulse jet engine such as would be on a V-1 buzz bomb mounted at
the focal point of a huge parabolic reflector. IMS the thing produced pressure waves
measured in BARS and could kill at a quarter mile. Ultimately it was never fielded.
You guys who actually served in combat arms (as opposed to being a USAF radio tech
like me) would know what a target that reflector dish would have made.
Brrrrrrr. BARS of pressure! Reckon how they tested the thing to determine the kill range?
Another issue was the time it took to train the birds and since they didn’t
make it back every time they were used it had to start all over again.
Besides the infrared detection worked better once it was developed and
didn’t need feed.
As far as I know the pigeon-gided missile was never more than
an early concept (unless I’m mixing it up with another similar
idea).
It does have some very obvious problems: you have to train
the birds quite intensively, you have to somehow tell them
where you want the missile to strike. You have to keep the
birds somewhere close to the weapon, ready and fed …
And you have to make sure that they don’t for whatever
reason decide to fly home instead towards the target.
As for those wonder weapons in general you should take
these stories with a grain of salt (or maybe rather a pitcher?)
There’s plenty of rubbish tales about stuff like flying saucers
powered by some mystery concept that we’re yet to rediscover.
(No, it’s not me who made this one up – I’ve seen this “report”
on television, presented in the same way stories about ghosts
and “ancient aliens” are: Talk with some science guy, let them
refute 98% of your absurd “theory”, then take the remaining 2%
and ask “what if” …)
Got my scooter in today AND a very nice power lift to haul it
around on. The lift is wired directly to my car’s battery. I
guess it’s a good thing I replaced the battery yesterday with
a heavier duty one. Anyhow, thanks to all the readers in the
U.S. I appreciate your tax dollars.
I’ve been trying to get a lift chair for my father his knees are in bad shape
VA won’t give me a straight answer and Medicare will only cover the motor(s)
I just LOVE dealing with bureaucrats….
The lift is wired directly to the battery and the battery is just a high end, 750 cranking amps cold,
model. I have had that exact battery on the car for years. Since the car came standard with power
windows, power door locks, a power driver’s seat and air conditioning, it came standard with a
heavier duty alternator. Not having a job I don’t drive often and that is not good for a battery so
this is the 2nd battery I have put in the 2013 model car. Way back before I replaced the battery the
1st time I researched online and confirmed the alternator could handle the higher end battery.
To make sure I do not leave the lift key in the lift I put it on my key ring so I will not be using the
lift while the engine is running.
Re your dad: I don’t recall, does he already have a VA disability? If so and the mobility department
is giving you the run around, then you need to go to the patient advocate section. I’ve been very
fortunate. Aside from a couple of assholes (which, let’s face it are everywhere) and the contract
clinic I am assigned for primary care the VA has over all taken good care of me. They did likewise
for my father-in-law. They have taken pretty good care of my son as well once he got his disability
(100%) approved. But there are assholes everywhere. It’s the squeaky wheel which gets greased
so sometimes you have to make some noise to the right people. I wish you luck getting your dad
what he needs. My son is a past DAV post commander and knows who to contact. If you are having
trouble with the VA then reach out to local veterans’ groups. In my experience those guys are quick
to step up for their fellow vets.
I’ll try again last time they kept shifting me between the mobility and the
home care I’ve even been to the VA doctor’s office on several occasions.
Just to get the prescription for the chair I had to go through his family
doctor. I thought the 7 year fight to get my disability was tough.
Sgt Markham best be gentle about setting
“conditions” based on Dragonfly morals.
If anyone uses those conditions to break the
spirit of the agreements, that black eye could
spread beyond him and the breaker :{
Odds are he is being honorable, and just mentioning
it so everyone knows what everyone knows going in :}
That’s true he may only want Sunny to keep a low profile
during Jonas’ stay in boot. For all we know he has
a Dragonfly himself or someone in his family does.
Personally I think the Sarge has one and that is how he knew.
I think wants to ask Sunny not to pop up all the time someone

ever tries to exploit her morals –
just to be sure.

age of consent is 16.. (34 states)
AND varies state to state.
IE: cally is 18, unless they are
same age, then it’s 14..
