I was wondering if I was looking at a different species.
I thought the Navy and Marines might cut their hair,
but the tail, lack of ear ridges, and the muzzle shape
are pretty heavy sexual dimorphism.
So Teresa is just making sure Taritha knows the score and
what to and not to discuss with the Queen makes sense.
The P’tera females have a different if not striking look to them,
hair, tail, longer snout, and maybe a few other skills for us to discover?
It’s the one thing I always loved about aliens in sci-fi, learning about
them and their ways. I feel the same as H’Ab Sut, that hard times are
coming for all the races. And just as the Earth’s corrupt governments
found out, it won’t end well for the core’s governments.
A female Pteran? Okay. I was wondering if the Pterans mightn’t be
subject to something like our multiple human phenotypes (one dare
not use the “r” word these days). Rather extreme instance of sexual
dimorphism. If one did not know better one might well think they
were two distinct species.
Sadly the word race is used to describe the various sub-species in
RL of humans which isn’t the definition of the word but the common
use. Like Vise-grip is used to describe clamping pliers it’s just
easier to say. It’ll have to change once(if) we meet the first
real alien race.
I just noticed the blurb “Ptero females Don’t have Mammaries”.
Of course not since they are not mammals. I wonder how much
like The Race the Ptero are. Turtledove’s reptilians are male
dominated but have essentially equal sexes otherwise. It looks
like the Ptero are matriarchical. Interesting.
The P’tera might be able to accept the differences in gender and base
their “jobs” in their society on the strengths of their genders rather than
pride. Reptiles in RL either lay eggs and abandon them (sea turtles) or
stay with the nest to protect it (crocodiles) and while they may be smaller
are more vicious in protecting them. P’tera may be similar in that way the
males are better fighters, but the females reason better and will protect
their own better and more viciously. Their Queen may view the entirety of
their race as her children.
It’s like a panel of intelligent people discussing a new
discovery, voicing our opinions extrapolated from what
facts we have so far, the way it should be done! 🙂
“The suspect, 64-year-old Carl Carrel, died”
Considering he shot TWO cops trying to arrest
him under an arrest warrant for assaulting
ANOTHER cop, I say that was an altogether
fitting and proper result.

Maybe that explains Gur’yan’s startled response.
The double entendre is a common jibe in Pteran
parlance and he thought it was shockingly
inappropriate.

from Gur’yan’s reaction you think? ,
the females have chameleon powers??
Maybe…
But they do have a hair crest and a tail.
Ah so it was a female P’tera on the
Xanadu street I noticed interesting…
wasn’t sure if it was a different race.

Not unheard of in the animal world,
mind you. Even among vertebrates.
Maybe she’s just very pretty.

Perhaps these new Chaos Monkeys will be the
catalyst to get some cleanup started!
I am loving the comments here.

Otherwise known as the TSS (Taxpayers’ Savings Shot).
“The Queen is expecting you for dinner”
Uhhhh……and how do you mean that?
Will I be eating with the Queen?
Or will I be eaten by the Queen?
Yeah. Almost posted something like that myself 😉
Thank you for doing it, so I don’t have to.
Anybody remember that one scene from
“Rocky Horror Picture Show”:
“That’s a rather tender subject. Another slice, anyone?”
What?!? Meatloaf again??
Maybe that explains Gur’yan’s startled response.

“We are hoping that…..that you can clarify things.”
With clarified butter?
I need a “groan” button.
