I don’t think those are necessarily embassy guards,
but if they are, having Commander Villines there
means she may be about to arrest him.
And as the chief law enforcement officer in the empire,
they ultimately would answer to her.

Suggestion……Miral stands with Ahmya,
declaring (to the effect) that mistakes have
been made, apologies proferred and accepted.
Miral will now carry Ahmya’s sword, BUT,
will also spend time with and beside Ahmya,
so thateach will learn about the other’s
culture; the hows and the whys.
(especially have Ahmya teach Miral how to
use the “too long axe”)

Another way would be for them to stage a sparring match
with Ahmya and convincingly let her win. Miral isn’t trained
for even a practice sword so it is very possible. There’s a
limit to what speed and/or strength can compensate for.
In the Xanth series by Piers Anthony, there is a quote about a Catastrophe in a cave
which turns out to be a plaque with the back half of a cat stuck into it.
OH boy, that is bad, they were very big on keeping the stance
of being the stronger family. What little I know tells me that
this could have tipped the balance and triggered a civil war,
perhaps if Miral and a few other’s were to help proving them
wrong? Like the sparring match or fight in an actual battle. It’s
clear that Ahmya didn’t think that far ahead when she was
spouting off to the other girls…
I wonder… If this guy doesn’t jump up and greet her, asking
if she’s ok and such. It’s just as likely someone else spiked
her drink and the aid ran them off and stayed with her until
he could get her out of the bar/lounge and took her home
to sleep it off. Date-r*pe drugs are cruel way to get laid, in
some cases the victims are over-dosed and don’t survive.
Anyway they mess up the short-term memory and that is
why they are so popular. The only witness only saw her after
the guy called a cab. The rest could just be a huge misunderstanding.
