Jim, it appears, may be quite a bit more intelligent and wiser,
than his more radical friends. The best way to change a system,
is from the inside. Protests will draw attention TO a problem,
while working from within will fill in the scope of the problem,
and actively correct it.
I can just imagine; Marine Drill Sergeant Lizard
of the 101st Wolf Imperial Marine Division…
Protests rarely work out as expected and I doubt anyone would pay attention anyway.
Ah she’s giving Jim the “motivational” talk ok good it does help. When I re-injured
my back at work I was very depressed, my wife and kids helped me through it.
It always helps to give a loved one a “kick in the seat” to shake them out of it.
I don’t see Teresa having an issue with the Ptero as long as it’s not a trick to get
critical intel as well. The only real advantage The Empire has is their grav drives
and their drive to see that everyone succeeds. If they are being honest I see this
as a way that the Empire could be the next leaders of the core! I would love to
see most of the races at least accept at least their ideology.
That depends on what “success” looks like for the protesters.
Nowadays, the most common goal seems to be “Get attention,
piss people off, and claim victim status”.
Be nice to those trees. They’re what’s keeping you breathin’
Peter’s observation works for all kinds of protesters.
“We keep telling them that those foreign bastards are bad, but do they listen?
No! They arrest us for disturbing the peace. It’s us who are the victims here!!!”
I agree, we shouldn’t pollute anything.
But I don’t think it’s a matter of saving ourselves as much as it is
to not degrade our lives. We’re actually pretty adaptable.
Being adaptable is what we excel at, yes. But adaption takes time,
even for us. And the will to do so. Which we’re currently lacking.
And adaption needs alternative resources that could be used.
We could replace fossil energy with regenerative ones. Easy enough.
We could replace eating one species of banana with another one.
Has been done several times already over the last few decades,
since keep overusing and wiping out the ones we like best.
We could even learn to eat insects and what ever plant and animal
there is even stuff that isn’t edible before processing.
Been literally doing things like this ever since we left Africa.
But we can not replace breathing oxygen.
Nor do we have a spare ocean (unless you count Jupiter’s moon
Europa …)
And while we sure could move underground if things get too hot up
here like they do in the Australian outback, it would take more
than a few decades to find a way for all the 7 or 8 or 10 billions
of us to live there.
And we’d need a food source that works without an ecosystem.
There’s even concepts for that.
Even then it would be like you said: degrading our lives.
“….I only have authority over affairs on Romani Island.”
And there you go.
“I, Taritha, as Governor of Romani Island, do hereby grant temporary
authority to the Ptero to establish an embassy for the benefit of…
(etc., etc.) (details, details). Such authority is subject to the final
approval of Empress Teresa. (etc., etc.) So mote it be.”
Cut to the chase and run with it as far as you can.
It’s better to ask forgiveness after, then permission before.
Heh-heh. Teresa did blindside King several times, didn’t she.
“Oh, God. Teresa’s improvising again.”
“By now, you should be used to it.”
“Used to it, no. Resigned to it, yes.”
“Psssssttt…”
Jim, if getting snarled at after making that comment to you ended your friendship
it wasn’t a good one in the first place, much less a best one. Here I printed a pair
for my son’s truck but you can have them… LOL! Brahma bull sized too lol.
Very true he does strike me as a “Power to the people!” type which makes me
wonder why they were friends in the first place.
“Dude! Pass that would ya.” LOL
IIRC all previous embassies mentioned have been on Earth, and by implication in Jerico.
This one different because the threat level is higher so more intel must be kept secret?
You’re right, most alien government presence on Catia is in the form of trade delegations.
But there’s one big reason that the Cats and the Pteras want their embassy on Catia.
And another big one as to why the Navy doesn’t want it on Earth.
You’ll figure it out. I’ve already given you a hint earlier.
Damn. You’ve made me think again. The only embassies on Terra are member kingdoms.
Embassies of other species will have to be on Catia. For one of the same
reasons that the Ptera must be. But that’s enough hints.
There is the pragmatic fact that Catia is at the crossroads between the Northern and
Southern human worlds, the huge network that represents the rest of known space,
and Terra, or as most of civilization thinks, Dragon Space, where Terra is isolated, a
“peninsula” on the map, with only one (known) wormhole. This will lead to Catia becoming
a de facto “second capital” of the Empire, maybe serving as seat of external diplomacy
while Jerico continues to be seat of government and “internal diplomacy”. Checking, I
was surprised by the number of countries now and in the past that have maintained
different government functions in different “capitals”.
That is so true Jochi they have the interesting prospect of controlling
both the trade and the political behaviour of all races through their
space seems to me that the treaty is in dire need of a re-write
considering how many of the core races have been acting and manipulating
it through the council! And I have a hunch Teresa and Kathy could
act as the voice of the dragons there as well.
Well the control boards for the grav drives are very hard to reverse engineer and very few know how to make them
so keeping all aliens races away from Terra makes a lot of sense. That’s the true bottle-neck of ship production is
that.
Thank-you that is a neat video. There is nothing I can add to the talks on protestors
as they seem do it for look at me rather an issue. Otherwise they would not carry it
so far. There is a time to stop and let people think about it rather than make them
upset with you and they forget the purpose.
Glad you liked it is was a “rick-roll” of sorts but I thought the idea was pretty cool.
I grew up hearing about flower children, the black panther movement, the anti-war
for Vietnam, and all the anti-communism panic that happened during the 50’s to the
70’s and a good part of it just seemed silly and overblown to me even then. It’s only
gotten worse.
I’ve probably read through this particular segment five or
more times. This is the first time I’ve noticed Taritha’s
double rig. Every time I read through I usually notice
various little things I had missed on previous readings.
So very complex, PC!

LOLl true like those tree huggers I mentioned before 😉

Trees are important yes however they only make up a part of oxygen production in the world
the algae in the ocean does the most of the work it’s a scientific fact:
https://www.quora.com/What-are-the-main-sources-of-oxygen-on-Earth-What-can-we-do-to-have-more
just to name a source so to save ourselves we need to stop treating the ocean as a huge landfill!

Of course I knew that – but ever seen anybody hugging some algae?
Jeez… I need to proofread my comments better
or at least make them when I’m caffeinated lol

As many times Teresa did it to King, I
highly doubt she’d have any complaints LOL

Yeah, I decided that couldn’t have been the first “discussion” on this subject.
Just the final straw.

Here’s an interesting video I ran across https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uf3ouaeB6UQ
and no it’s not a rick-roll!

Noticed. Not notice. I should have reread my comment
at least two more times before posting. Sigh.
