Jeez, Catman! Considering the phenotype of both the watchers in panels 2 – 4 and your use of dialect, aren’t you the least bit concerned you’ll offend/trigger some snowflake? Those people think nothing of calling for whole channels being eliminated from cable. They have censored Shakespeare for goodness sake! They have people actively trolling the web LOOKING for shit they don’t approve of! While I applaud your courage, man, I hope to holy hell this doesn’t come back to bite you in the ass. You know I’m behind you all the way no matter what.
Oh, I’ve gotten some emails!
The veep of Imp Intel is a Chinese woman…
The veep of Imp Sec is a black woman…
The lead’s best friend is Chinese…
The Baaad Police commander is Colombian…
The bestest hero is a black young man…
And Russians, lots of Russians. Like Teresa.
The most popular character isn’t even human, she’s a kick-ass kitty.
But if I have one minority portrayed as evil……….
I’m a racist.
The funny part is, none of these characters were planned. It just kind of happened as I imagined the story.
Waukanda is a kingdom centered around Jackson, Mississippi. I’ve been there, so, yeah.
Oh, and Venus is an albino black woman.
I agree with you Bill, however considering the Hildabeast pic (that I was too slow to see), and the above, could it be the cat man is playing with (trolling) the SJWs?
My only concern was that the Catman knew the sort of potential jeopardy he was putting himself into. Things were bad with the cancel culture last year but since Biden has taken office it has gotten worse. I don’t know what company owns the servers Catman uses to host our beloved adventure comic but if the badguys want to they can find out and bring pressure to bear to cancel TGW. That is my concern. They have already pretty much gutted the 1st Amendment. The lockdown put paid to freedom of assembly and religion and the presence of razor wire in Mordor on the Potomac means no redress. Freedom of speech joined the dodo long ago.
Catman. On that observation type pod/module: how many crew stations? I don’t see it as having a transverse element. Okay? I’m planning on shrinking the door to a more normal size (med pod doors were out of proportion) and moving the top of the door up just under the frame and adding some feet so that the sensor suite clears the ground. Also, what sort of sensors do you see it having? Oh and I plan to use the seats out of a locust for crew seating. Is that okay?
Note: this isn’t happening in the next couple of days. I’m fighting some health issues just now.
Umm… I’ll leave crew size up to you, you know more about electronics than I do. I was thinking of infrared, radar, ground penetration, commo, maybe command and control links.
Although C&C would probably be better in it’s own module.
Mostly ground surveillance, some high-rez video and night vision. With tie-ins to external systems like the Dragonflies, to use their cameras and sensors.
Maybe a crew of three, so they can spell each other and sleep? They could have two stations.
And yeah, no cross element so that the engines can rotate for maneuverability.
Actually . . . something similar to a Prowler (EA-6b) and an MH-64 with a touch of E-3 and/or P-3 might just do the job. Need to look at what info is available on crew layout on MH-64 and P-3 for inspiration. If I put the door in the side (wouldn’t want sensor aircrew to have to enter/exit via the locust cockpit) I can use the aft area for hvac, lavatory and equipment racks. Add a small galley (also aft) and somewhat long duration missions could be feasible. Gonna take the technical details back channel (email) while we work out details. I can already see a small pyramid-shaped phased array radar on the bottom along with bubbles containing video cameras. Not sure why somebody doing C&C couldn’t ride along. Gotta cogitate on this.

Thanks for the pix. Still starting from scratch. Remember, I only have the space in something a tad bigger than a 40 foot cargo container. The locust module is a bit larger than that width & height but there isn’t just a whole lot more plus I will lose some height raising the.bottom to clear the bottom-mounted sensors. The pod WxH is larger than either the P-3 or E-3. Have to measure the med-surg module to see how long it turned out. Also not sure about bunks for such long duration missions. Don’t see the need to go all 1950s SAC and have missions extending < 12 hours. Might be simpler to swap aircraft/crews than have aircrews up that long.
just a ‘ stoopid ‘ idea .. like on a flight deck.. have the under pods an the other pods, on folding panels.? (fold up on side when landing,, fold under in flight..??)
i know ,, i know ,, way lot more work…
If you look at Catman’s reply above he said something about raised floors and sensors under the pod. Also, moving parts increase complexity and openings for murphy. I’m very much a believer in the KISS principle. Besides I don’t see this as a full-on ELINT type of module. There’s a reason why those kind of birds are based upon a 707 or larger airframe. My thinking is IR, visual spectrum, LIDAR and a small, sub-millimeter wave phased array radar. As a former USAF Installations Team Chief, I understand cabling and racking requirements. Trick is to put in enough equipment to do the job.while fitting it all in the available cubic space. Fortunately I have a rectangular space to work with instead of the cylindrical cross section required by pressurization. Fortunately, modern digital electronics allows packing a lot of capability into a small space.
Still in the cogitating and imagineering phase at the moment. Got something going that pretty much has me flat on my back for a bit longer. All I can do is imagine. Working at the computer with my 24″ monitor, 32gb RAM and a graphics card ranked #5 in the 10 most popular (at least when I bought it) is damned uncomfortable. You DO NOT wanna know what I’m having to ice just now. Promise! 😉
Just had an idea. How about the sensors and associated electronics are in an essentially sealed (with maintenance access points like on the HVAC unit) sticking off the ass end of the module? Where the cameras, etc actually are wouldn’t affect the crew. Would free up floor space for crew amenities. Just not sure about having enough real estate on a small extension vs essentially the whole under side of the module.
Super bummed this a.m. I have a cyst that came up fairly rapidly on the outside of my left foot just below the point of my ankle that’s the size of a shooter marble and growing. Damned uncomfortable! Went to an Orthopedist yesterday and he “aspirated” (drained) it. Often just aspirating does the trick and the cyst goes away. No luck. It was visibly back by supper time and looks to be back to its old self thin morning. Gotta call the Doc’s office back. Only thing to do now is cut. I HATE getting cut on. Got too damned many of those T-shirts. Gotta.do something because a shoe presses on the damned thing. Add in an infection in avery delicate place and I’m.a for-sure mess.
Too much?

I don’t think this website likes me.

so.. lets combine a A-6(E) and a AWACS into a Pave low J (S-64 pod).?

Why not both?
also, you will want a pilot / crew hatch to the pod, for long missions (crew sleeps but pilots dont.??)
