I will point out that in Temujin’s day, “dog” was not an insult to a Mongol. It implied bravery, fierceness, devotion and loyalty. Genghis Khan’s greatest generals were his “Four Dogs”. I suspect to a Marine, “devil dog” carries much of the same weight.
