Yep. I read it, and commented.
I am not the most pious of persons, quite secular really.
But I do believe that God puts trials, tribulations,
and opportunities in our daily path to shape us,
to allow us to be shaped by others and
to allow us to shape others in turn.
I read it it’s a wonderful story.
I’ve done that a few times as well,
helped someone out when they needed it.
I felt so guilty when we needed help ourselves,
silly I know.
Clearly Teresa is both welcoming and suspicious of the Ptera and
their intentions, which is understandable given the tricks they
have seen played on the many of the fringe worlds. Time will tell
but they will have to show many of the races that Terran’s are
not humans and The Catian’s are no longer helpless slaves.
That’ll be a long hard fight I’m afraid.
I don’t know if any of the readers here live in Florida but if so I hope all are
safe and dry. The track looks like the eye will be out to sea by supper time today.
It also looks like the thing is going to make a slight left turn just missing
Georgia to cut through the middle of South Carolina tomorrow afternoon. PC? IMS
you’re in Georgia which will be on the back.side of the storm. They predicting
much in your area? IMS you live on a dirt road.
My wife didn’t get her pacemaker installed yesterday after all. Her Medicare
provider didn’t approve it in time (for some reason the scheduler in the Dr’s
office set it up with only 5 days lead time. The insurance company bureaucracy
has a 2 week suspense to approve things. No bureaucrat is going to do something
prior to the suspense date. Anyhow the scheduler in the Dr’s office is out till
tomorrow (Friday). I told my wife to be sure that the scheduler gives at least
2 full weeks if not more. I don’t really want to see her dependent upon a device
to keep her heart beating but if it has to be then I just want it to get done. I
found out that the reason she fell the end of July wasn’t because she tripped but
that she passed out for a second or so. The pacer is to regularize her rate. I do
hope she heals faster than I did. The first time I couldn’t bear to wear a driver’s
side seatbelt except for a couple of minutes for a good 8 weeks. Even then it was
over a year before the implant site stopped being sore. No fun, let me tell you.
I was expecting similar the 2nd go round but I hardly felt it.
Yeah it was the same for my father he wasn’t sore that
much the second time but the tape they used tore his
skin a bit and slowed the healing time quite a bit.
His skin has gotten quite thin.
Medicare is a nightmare they refused my chemo medication I had to
get a grant just to pay for it at $2000 a dose I wouldn’t of been able
otherwise. They wanted me to just get the kidney removed and go on
the waiting list, which was stupid as a cancer patient no doctor would
of done it for at least 5 years and even then… Dialysis isn’t a long-term
solution.
I note with interest that in Teresa’s worldview neither
Catia nor Lamia are “alien space”. Of course, several
of the Fringe Worlds are no longer legally “alien space”
either. But Lamia is still sovereign.
And I’ve wondered at the reactions of the delegates from the new
member worlds upon finding out the Wolf Empire only occupies a
small fraction of its own homeworld and the “Terrans” on it (who
are a small fraction of all humans), where they all occupy an
entire planet or multiple planets and an entire species.
True while they have an impressive amount of fleets and tech a full scale war
against the entire core fleets wouldn’t be a good thing. I hope things go well
with the P’tera Queen, it would be a huge help in that scenario. The Terrans are
an off-shoot of the humans and they were talking about joining The Empire,
that and the P’tera’s support could turn the tide. The Terrans are small but the
Empire is becoming vast.
Today, you are MARINES!”

And have a plan to kill everyone you meet.”
Repeat from yesterday:
I have a guest post on a friend’s blog:

Beautiful. The story,
the writing and the moral.
I liked the comment from
LoneStarNeanderthal, too.
That is one terrific story. Thank-you.
If God existed, they’d be constantly
screaming “stop blaming ME for all
the stuff you keep doing to each other.”
Nice story, though.

Fixed. Yeah, I live near there. I’ve watched the predicted wind
gusts drop from 40mph down to 20mph, the peak winds are supposed
to be happening right now, but I just walked outside and there’s
barely any wind blowing. Even the closed circuit cameras on
the Savannah waterfront look boring:

Be safe PC it’s pretty dicey how Hurricanes will
behave, with luck it’ll die down enough it’ll be
just a bad storm if it does get to you.
