Well, this is interesting… I wonder just how similar, internally, to at errands the Cattians are? Stitching together their muscles and tissues is going to take something a bit tougher than ‘cat gut’…
Tessa’s logic, as usual, is pretty much spot on. One has to wonder how they are going to rejoin Cattian society in the future… Might not have been a bad idea to emigrate to Earth…
‘Only partially terraformed.’ Therefore a great deal of heavy work ahead of them. The other clans will take their efforts into account, as they fight against the elements to prove themselves.
See what I mean about me ignoring the obvious? Clearly her first priority HAS to be what is good for the Empire — that’s inherent in her position as well as aligning with her personality. Saying anything more right now might run afoul of our desire to avoid current real world politics. So it didn’t occur to me that was what you were after.
Ginny’s observations about the toughness of Cats amuses me, because I’ve run across a slew of the “Humans are Space Orcs” memes recently, like the fact that people say “Healthy as a horse”, when a human can take damage that would flat KILL a horse and keep coming. Endurance predators are scary.
I know the Cats are denser, tougher, and pound-for-pound stronger than humans. I also know there are known ways in which humans exceed them, like in endurance. I would, however, not at all be surprised if it turned out that very toughness came with a price, and they were less resilient and hence were more fragile under certain trauma situations. Maybe not, your story. But until it’s stated it could go either way. Heck, there are possibly ways in which humans exceed dragons.
Your innocence betrays you, Catman. Unfortunately we already live in a country where the conditions of “Animal Farm” prevail and some people are more equal than others. If a crime is worse when committed against some people than it is when committed against others then there truly are 2nd class citizens in fact if not in name.
OR when it’s committed BY some people than when it is by others. This is an area where past experiences have created differing viewpoints, and we all have to be careful to guard against confirmation bias when we acquire new information. Regardless of our position. The “Grand Experiment” that is the United States is still going on, will be as long as it survives. We learn and hopefully improve.
In order to avoid internet toxicity, I am binge-watching Tokyo Mew-Mew online. https://animekisa.tv/tokyo-mew-mew-dubbed
I can feel my mind slipping into the cute-happy place. Bliss.
While feeling bad (most of this past week and especially after getting a shingles vaccination Thursday a.m.) I’ve been watching “Earth: Final Conflict” on the Roku Channel on my Roku. Unfortunately there is so much “Hollywood” in the plots and some of the characters’ interactions that it sometimes becomes hard to watch. Bad writing is bad writing. One thing I know I will never have to worry about here, Catman. You are no Tolstoy but you ARE a damned good story teller. Keep up the good work.
(and you might wanna throw in some exterior shots of those nice medical modules) 😉
ok, i was looking up names to correctly place, an found a few errors,, (IE: Admirals sectary, originally called Jessica, then Lisa..) ,, I’ll put named NPC’s in lower case (IE: father mitchell).. ? or leave em out like with “doc”.??
also changed “739” location to lunch (1900) vice breakfast.. 🙂
Re: MASH Three . . .
One point, Catman –
When the treatment team changed from working on the practice mannequin/dummy –
to working on a Real World Patient (when we actually started taking patients) –
The Doctor-in-Chief should have masked up. (I saw two sets of doctor scrubs.) and had safety glasses on
The RN saith that.
FYI – even in a field OR set (we had three) everybody inside the doors had to be masked – even in Pre-Op and ARU/Post-Op as well. –
– even those of us who were watching outside the Circulator’s circle.
The CRNA’s anesthesia tubing must be clear as well.
Sorry for the nit picking – Old Nurse – Old habits.
😀
Just so you know . . . This is my FAVORITE WebComic !
Should be good enough/easy enough to fix in the parts going forward (?) – no sense backtracking.
(Words to self) It is a WebComic for crying out loud.
That looks like Korean era OR setups. Aseptic techniques have come a long way,
and occasionally gotten in the way.
For the 410th EVAC, we had 3 OR sets in the DEPMEDS, but one table per set.
For DSDS, we had 5 400-bed EVAC on line with 5 200- bed CASHs and 5 40-bed MASHs going forward.
We were expecting 2K patients per day. Did. Not. Happen. PTL !
KKMC had a few other EVAC hospitals, one brick and mortar Saudi hospital “in town” and a couple others around the airfield (IIRC).
RVN (Tra Vinh) hard hospital had no window glasses, just bars – nor mattresses on the bed – just cardboard on the springs and family to do most of the care.
Ah, Stanley? Moore? How about dialing back the kibitzing and letting the man tell his story? Okay? I for one find it a damned good one and, I suspect like most of the Catman’s readers, don’t know enough about real medical practice to see any alleged “flaws” in how he’s telling it. How about maybe giving him (and us) a frelling break? Okay?
oh,, sorry i thought it was implied when i sed .. (is why i didn’t say a thing.) .. i have seen these pages a bit before you.. an have commented on some of the errors ‘before’ , but like i sed, changing that much would be a Nightmare…
I started to say something about how Teresa’s (laudable) determination that the Empire have no second-class citizens compares to the establishment of ranks of Gentry, Nobility and Royalty, but I know you have bent over backwards to show how those ranks carry no special legal immunities or other privileges, other than those tied to the powers of the offices, and those are better termed responsibilities or duties. So, I’m a-gonna keep my ignernt hillbilly mouth shut to hide my ignorance and bias and enjoy you telling your story.
please no… he wants your (our) comments, nit picking, an critiques.. what he don’t want , is us telling him how to comic, bashing others, ect.. ((this is what I have “seen”,, not what he said.!)).!
and i think PC used at least once each of our “comments, nit picking, an critiques.” an not used a dozen of the others… IE: one comment changed one character’s life..
Nah, I just meant on this one subject. I currently believe the Empire is trying to build a classless society while using the symbology, titles and some of the trappings of a rigid hierarchical one. I have no idea how that would work out long term in reality, and I doubt the story is going to run across the three to five generations in-story that it would take to find out how it works here. And when I DO kibitz, it’s more often with humorous intent than to get PC to change the story — it’s HIS story, I agree completely. And yes, he told us one of my attempts at humor actually affected the story indirectly. Hopefully for the better.

Sorry. I did not realize relational reminiscing was not appropriate.
Not intended as pushing the author(s).
I did add the note that a WebComic is its own world.
Old soldier’s bad habit.

Teresa isn’t finished. There’s more.
And internal layout is pretty much the same.

Remember their sick, twisted creator. Cats were designed to survive damage that would kill a human.

Oh, my God, I hadn’t made the connection of her words to modern times!
It was purely unintentional, I was merely writing what I believe.

an gloves,,,.. BUTTT,, going back an changing ALL that would be a nightmare… (is why i didn’t say a thing..)
an in practice i could see (maybe) but when went to real, would also change everything.!!! (again , nightmare.)
also would be 2 or 3 “floater” nurses to bring supplies or change scrubs on doc….
