A while back there was some Second Amendment news on the radio, and I asked my daughter what she learned in school, did the Second Amendment grant citizens the right to carry weapons for self defense, and she said “No, not the way you phrased it. We were taught we HAVE that right naturally, the Second Amendment says the government can’t interfere with it.” I wanted to go hug a social studies teacher, only he wouldn’t have appreciated it. My kids also know that all rights come with responsibilities, whether natural or civil, two sides of the same coin.
