The first is probably how Jaris pronounced “Jaime” when he was a cub, between a mouth structure better suited to sibilant sounds and an offworld accent. And it stuck. I can think of similar words in my family generated for similar reasons. Jaris wasn’t putting any pressure on his sister to accept, no, none at all.
