The Fair Tax, sort of.
And she'll have plastic surgery when this is over.
She'll keep the scars on her back , though.

I am in favour of a flat tax. For arguments sake 10% on all income and no other taxes. Vehicles right through to bicycles would be licensed to pay for road upgrades. It probably would not be enough but I would also do away with welfare as such. It be more like workfare unless you were seriously injured. Even people in wheelchairs can work productively. Ah well one can dream. I do like the 25% sales tax as the only tax.

I’ve decided to bore everyone by using Bil, the new resident, as a foil to explain Imperial
philosophy on governing. I will try to keep you all entertained with the Cat Wars segment,
it is about to get even more twisty and exciting.

PC, Thank you for going through the simplified Fair Tax explaination. This would make things so much better in this country. More money in our pockets and far less government control over our lives.

Only problem I can see with this is the need for local taxes.
Let’s be honest, different regions are going require different levels of funding, if nothing else, because of environmental variables.
Drought, floods, tornadoes, ice storms, etc. I realize that funds can be allocated regionally, but on the scale of even a worldwide Empire, micromanagement would become an issue as would bureaucracy.
As a flat tax, I figure that, of the tax structure about 60% to 80% would go to the Empire while 20% to 40% would go regionally.

But that’s just my thoughts… Your mileage may vary…

Regions (states) can levy their own sales tax on top of the federal one.
Market pressure will help keep things under control on that level. If my state wants 10% and the state next door only wants 6%, I’m going to do a little driving to make large purchases.

so are you one of those,, that buy from china.!? because that is the same as driving across the state line to defeat the tax.. as per the example,, the 10% is to pay for damage that last storm did. now you take your major purchase to a another state, cuz 6% , and you aren’t only one,,, now the 10% state has to raise another tax because all the money is spent in another state…
oh and where does the glut of money go from free taxes go .. lines some one else pocket…

Thanks for bringing that up. I’ll address that in a later page.

Good idea displaying the evidence of the current mistreatment of slaves to get the point across.
Jiena is in the Pirate costume in the Hotel Staff Training Photo from the Feb 22 posting on your Patreon page.
I thought the eye patch was part of the costume the first time I saw it,but I guess not.

She was asked to delay her reconstructive surgery for just this purpose. She’ll begin
the repairs later, including her eye replacement. But she’ll keep wearing the eyepatch,
as she thinks it gives her a proper rakish air.

PC, Thanks for the simplified FairTax description. It would make things much better in this country, more money in our pockets and far less government control in our lives. By the way, when did Bil get the second “L” in his name? Did I miss something?

I wonder why they don’t label their prices wih the tax already included. Makes everything much easier for the customers. (Of course, then we wouldn’t have this dialogue.)

Because then it would be easy to hide a tax increase.
This way, citizens see exactly how much they are taxed whenever they make a purchase.
      Taxes can’t be hidden.
