The Lir don’t (can’t) lie, either. Kajm can appreciate that in Kathy.
Was thinking on our little conversations re: Kajm and the Lir. That dragon that appeared earlier in the story, temporarily took on human form…. there ARE some few shape-shifters left among the Lir and the ability to take a human form is there- that is how the Lir ACHIEVED the fairly ‘human’ form they wear (I can go into more detail if you like, elsewhere). But you can Bet he was glad to get out of that body when all was said and done!
Didn’t really think she would, just saying that was safer for guarding her secret, and the third idea was a complete joke. Kathy wouldn’t threaten someone so fragile. Yeah, the secret behind Katherine’s perception will be interesting.
My aunt’s name is Kathleen. We always called her Kay.
Supposedly, Willy Jeff likes to lie just to demonstrate his “superior intellect” (unlike O’Bozo, Willy Jeff actually was a Rhodes Scholar and even studied in GB a coupleof semesters, IMS). I am easily capable of crafting a fiction which no one not Mensa-level could see through but still prefer to always tell the truth (at least as I know/believe it to be) if for no other reason than I hate having to keep up with what I told who. In so very many ways honesty truly is the best policy.
I was partly right there will be dragonflies. Wait a minute Katherine can see their colours. A dragon recruit maybe? A live rocket in the cockpit. Ouch!
Katherine = empath.. not to far a stretch, we have people now who can see auras .. an yeah maybe has a little dragon blood from an ancestor..
..yes curious bout rocket..
As Catman wrote me in a (decidedly odd) email this morning
That rocket that Melissa’s carrying in her cockpit…
It’s 75mm dia by 1.25M long,
Assuming that the front 60cm is shrapnel with an explosive core, what would the kill and wound radii be? I don’t want to be way off.
I was thinking 10 and 30 meters, but don’t know if I’m even close.
answer is.. one of my jobs was loading ordnance.. so you have 9 main heads for the 2.75 Zuni rocket,, 3 war heads,, the mk-24 HE, 30ft kill zone, ‘most common’.. the mk-32 ATAP. light armor piercing if used against hard target, other wise 70ft kill zone. an the mk-63 HE Frag. similar to the mk-32, but no anti-armor.. the other 6 are, mk-33 illumination. mk-34 smoke. mk-84 chaff. practice. an rarely seen,, WDU-4 Flechette..
oh to meters,, 30ft = 10m (9.144m) an 70ft = 20m (21.336m) so yes close..
an no sane person would carry the rocket, close to a radio or antenna,, RF will ignite the rocket motor.. (RF shielded in the launcher..)
Katherine OUGHT to be called “Kitty” (after Amanda Blake’s “Miss Kitty” IMnsHO) if for no other reason than disambiguation although I will accept “Kitti”.
The red rocket needs to have a note attached to it reading something along the lines of
The next missile will be under power and will NOT be alone.
You have 15 minutes either to:
1) lay down all weapons and raise a white flag indicating you and your troops’ TOTAL, UTTER, COMPLETE AND UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER. Individual troopers wishing to surrender will be allowed to lay down their weapons, and, with their hands raised over their heads, proceed to walk briskly out of the camp in the direction towards where our craft are hovering;
or
2) make peace with your personal concept (if any) of ultimate reality and prepare to end.
Absent a white flag being raised over the camp and ALL WEAPONS laid down; the camp and any THING OR PERSON remaining within its confines WILL . . . BE . . . DESTROYED . . . UTTERLY!!!!!
The clock starts when the person reading this not raises their head to indicate having read the message.
You remind me of a buddy of mine, ex-Army. When Saddam capitulated to “end” Desert Storm and agreed to any and all inspections for WMDs, then immediately started balking at certain sites, he said the proper exchange for the inspectors was:
“You can’t come in.”
“You’re determined? OK, you have 20 minutes.”
“To let you in?”
“No, we’re leaving. To evacuate.”
“Why do you want a rocket in your cockpit?”
I must be reverting to a teen again, I had to
giggle when I read that…
Now I just need a Corvette and a “crotch-rocket”
and I’ll have the complete “second childhood” set!
Kathy doesn’t like to lie.
More Wed & Fri.

Well, if it’s a part of Miral’s plan…
Rocket = suppository
