I have no idea how the belt changed. I just went and looked at the 3D, and the tools were there but turned off (visibility) in the first image. Must have been close to my bedtime.
There’s no external difference in the suits so the enemy can’t play target-the-leader, except for the medics. They are designated on the HUD.
