Slowly, more and more places are seeing the light. The Empire
will circle the Earth. There will always be problem children, but
they will group together, try something stupid, and either get
slapped down or taken out.

Heh, the Demons had a good leader, Funky-frogs just figured
it out, and now the Foxes are following suit. The GC group is
far larger than the core, with the leadership being the main
issue. Greed and control seems to be the driving factor.

Yeah, I was originally picturing their Council as looking like the
Star Wars Republic (or Imperial) Senate. But I no longer think
it’s THAT big, just way bigger than the old Core and Periphery.
No, I agree, maybe a hundred tops. We never did see a
count on the fringe worlds, but the GC were the ones
with FTL, so it’s hard to say just how many different
species there are. The republic had thousands of members,
which had a lot to do with it’s failure. Both times.
No. But, Yes. It depends on what they mean by ‘Diversity,’ and species’
willingness to abide by the Dominant cultures values.
And Yes I KNOW how that sounds. But I’m thinking as an example, Western Culture.
Either abide by the laws of the land (US, NOT EU) or stay away.
Which is why my Lir don’t often go into Human cities. They see a problem, THEY FIX IT.

When writing my Science Fiction stories each world in a given empire, have a few
hard laws they must follow, but for the most part, they each have a high degree of
local autonomy, although each star system has local sector laws in addition to the
Imperial laws, and each in-habited world in a star system, answers to either an
organized star system government or the sector government. Each continental
government answers to the local world governing body.
Main reason I organized it this way? If each world were governed by the central
government of the particular “empire” they belong to, the amount of bureaucracy that
they would have to deal with, would collapse the governing world into a black hole,
from the sheer mass of the paperwork alone.

What I suspect are the Northern Territories of California are an awful lot
of arid un farmable land (lava beds and steep cliffs).
They are a lot of ranch land and forest land.
I’m guessing the counties that are hoping to become the State of Jefferson.
(Shasta, Lassen, Modoc, Siskiyou, Trinity, Plumas, Butte)
We’d miss but they’d be happier with Idaho.
The real food producing is farther south in Central Valley.
All five of the landowners of Kern and Fresno Counties might separate.
Not so sure about the working folk.
We’d still have the coastal valleys. And some pretty important
tech centers.
And I rather like the wide variety of culture available
in my bog of DEI steeped, socialist, decadence.
I just heard from the funeral home, my wife’s ashes are ready.
I don’t know if I can do this alone. I’ve only just started doing
housework. Took down the ramp out front, don’t need it anymore.
