Hmmm…. It does look like if Mist and Gopi are either bonded or
are very close friends. Perhaps in time Mist can help her to open
up and accept her life as it is now.
I love how close Teresa and Taritha have become, I guess that
flamboyant frenchie might be a bit much to deal with. I just
wonder about the brother in all this.
True, I hadn’t reached that page yet in my re-read,
I had forgotten. It looks like when a dragonfly meets
a “match” it’s instinctive for both, they just click.
Just like when I met that skinny 17 y/o back in ’82,
she just clicked to me, like something was missing
til then… I never expected I’d see her again 2 years
later.
“Recognition” in a sense similar-but-not-the-same as in Elfquest,
as that also happens immediately but involves recognizing their
DNA is suitably matched for producing exceptional children.
This has to be more about recognizing matching psyches,
or mutual needs, or maybe that each has what the other needs.
I always figured it was similar to the way,
in Anne McCaffrey’s Pern stories,
a hatchling dragon “impresses” on a potential rider.
Similar lifelong telepathic bond results.
Sounds interesting. Explore the bonding of D’flies and sapients. BTW, we know D’flies
and Homo Sapiens (Sapiens and Felinus) can bond, any other species? It might be
interesting to see a Dog or one of the other worlds” inhabitants. For that matter do/can
D’flies bond with Lamians? Inquiring minds want to know!

Panel 7, they’d never met before, either.

But they “recognized” each other immediately.

Oooooh! I could write a story…. “The White Dragon(fly)”!

To paraphrase the movie. You write it, we will read it.
