to have a daughter that looked like Teresa’s mother, but as his advisor warned
back then it would not turn out as he expected. Now I have to wonder if me and
The Cat are both slightly deranged to have possibly similar ideas because this
would be a good explanation for the mental link.
It’s more likely a distant relative of the Chinn’s, born with a dragon spirit
that woke at a bad time in everyone’s lives. The region’s leaders found out
and conscripted him into service for them. Dragons and those with their

one as well, with the death rate and all. A c-section isn’t fun
for a woman, it is major surgery after all. As tiny as they are,
natural birth would be shear torture for days on end, so it’s
understandable if they rarely have kids, if for no other reason.
All three of mine were C-sect for the same reason. Well, the
middle one for this reason only. The first added breech position
and toxemia, the last one full-blown eclampsia at six months.
I feel for both of you, my wife went naturally, but not a year after
my youngest, she had “lady problems” as she calls it, 6 months of
anti-hormone shots and had 3 surgeries. Between the scaring
inside and the hysterectomy, it was 2 years of hell for us both.

to Mars that I just read you’d need about 30g Aluminum per cm² as
protection. (Since Aluminum is around 2.7 g/cm³ that translates
to about 4-5″ for shielding)
But there seems to be a catch with just relying on a material shield:
secondary radiation. (Some parts of the cosmic radiation, especially
those not from the closest star next to your craft are massive and
carry a lot of kinetic energy – if those hit something they can
generate cascades of lighter and slower particles).
My best bet would be a combination:
First strong magnetic shielding (maybe not while in stealth
mode) around the vessel for dealing with most of the problem.
Inside of that either a not-to-thick hull to catch most of the
remaining stuff while not generating too much secondary fall out.
Or you go for several layers of different metals combined with
maybe something like water, to try and eliminate dangerous levels
of secondary radiation too.

could fit through a wormhole. Heavy armor, lots of weapons, huge engines

The downside is that if an Imperial ship is taken by surprise, it’s in
trouble. Their smaller ships can’t take as many hits as a dreadnought.
So the fleet is not defensive, it is pretty much intended to be used

bit of shielding. Something about its structure would slow down the
particles. And it would not have to be all that thick either. I wish I
could remember where I read that. But cosmic ray shielding seems to be
more a function of molecular structure than absolute density. Although
polyethylene can be fairly dense, just not as dense/heavy per unit
volume as lead.
We used polyurethane powder mixed with 5% phenol to make a very hard
almost glass-like material that was a pain to clean out (jackhammer pain)
if it got wet in the hopper, phenol reacts to both heat and water, causing
it to cure. I wonder if that process could be used in layers with polyethylene
and a space alloy, both steel and aluminum are not truly gas tight, helium and
hydrogen will seep out right through it.

Wait… A Faraday cage! A mesh of copper or brass on the inner
layer could stop the outer field and convert the field it absorbs
back into power that could be reused to help power the field! A
buffer would be needed to stabilize the current, but it could work!

Actually, it is a play on the last lines of Frost’s
“Stopping By The Woods On A Snowy Eve”.

murder her farm helpers and feed them to her pigs. She was
convicted because the Sheriff had DNA tests run on the pig shit.

What a great idea, when you’ve made the military
