Good! Samuel ISN’T alone in this! And he has a DI by his side
through it all. I didn’t have that kind of support and it made it
twice as hard to deal with.

AW relax guys! Mistrial isn’t that bad, as long as you don’t piss
    her off! 😉

Hey, PC? Not to quibble, but weren’t Earth Humans supposed
to be called Terrans, to distinguish from the Core Humans?

Something about the Catians being hunted by the
Core Humans for Sport, slaves and spare parts?

That’s right. There are already Humans serving in the Navy, like
Jeyta, or Alyshia (Pink) and her brother. These are just more.

        Ok, just checking…

I was referring to humans as in the entirety of them, including
Catains and Terrans, According to the core worlds that is the
case, wrong as that may be. It’ll take time for the difference
to be widely known to all races I’m afraid. It’s going to make
meeting the new races (that we are soon to see here) that
much more difficult. I’m sure Taritha will be up to the task,
she certainly dealt with Slimy well!

loved that last two lines about “bet they just loved
that” and “Not one bit. But they couldn’t refuse.”
I have not had that good of a laugh for some time.

It could be worse. They could be dining with her before they leave.

yeah, would of been a bad idea to insult the supreme commander
      like that 😉
It’s normal to be afraid of your top boss, worse if he was a guy that
liked to smack butts (in a sports way) to all the guys… true story.
Juuuuuuust a bit creepy… He was in his 50s and I was 24 at the time,
he did that to all the new hires. Or so I was told.

Smacking butts in a sports way?

Shouldn’t he have been like … patting shoulders or something instead?
(Which is weird enough for a boss to do to new hires, at least in my book)

You see it in pro sport events, they call out someone that
made a good play and give them a friendly swat on the butt.
“Sounds like you’ll do well here, good luck!” (swat!) yeah he
almost got decked by me for that.

            O-kay …
I do like a good hug among close friends like the next person.

But butt-slapping among team mates or colleagues?
That’d I be quite uncomfortable with.

              It’s a cultural thing.
Middle Eastern men kiss each other on the lips.
American men slap each other on the ass.
              European men… Ummm… I dunno…
Beat the hell out of each other in football stadiums?

I guess it differs from country to country a bit.

In Germany, in a professional context, anything beyond a handshake
is something that might be considered weird or even inappropriate
(unless there’s also a more personal friendship too, maybe).

If I got a pat on the shoulder from my boss as acknowledgement for
a job well done, it would feel like patronizing like he’s telling me
“How’s been a good boy? Yes, you have” like he might praise his pet
                dog.

A slap on the butt? I’d might have to suppress the urge to tell him
that I’m not interested in *that* kind of a relationship with him.

Of course if I had any Russian or French acquaintances or even and
they’d greet me with a (fake) kiss to the cheek, I’d probably be ok with
                that, I guess.

I would of preferred a hand shake or a pat on the shoulder or on the back,
that wasn’t something you do to someone you just met! That was 1983,
and definitely not on a baseball field.

I hope we revisit Samuel later on after this story line is finished,
I’d like to see how he’s doing.

That sir is a terrific idea. I don’t want him lost in time either.
He has lost enough, maybe he can even find another friend.

I’ve been where he is, lost almost 5 years of my life feeling like he
is now, it wasn’t until I met my wife and we got together that I gave
a damn about anyone or anything. Including myself…
It’s a bad place to be… for anyone.

Scar does have some good ideas, doesn’t he?
I’ve used several of them already.

Sope. What’s the timeline here. Guy is young with a head of hair in the pic, old and bald behind the desk. Yet the core cast never seems to age. So how long is this whole thing gone on now post-collapse. Grand Admiral still a kid; this guy’s gone from young with hair, meeting his cat post collapse, to old and wrinkled.

Not too long. It’s not just years that will age you.
      He shaves his head.
