Okay. I get that aspect of the Legion now. Essentially every member of the legion is under a standing death sentence. Nobody has been pardoned per se; their sentence has merely been deferred upon them giving their parole. In essence every one of the – excepting those who choose to join voluntarily – has a standing death warrant out on them. If they break their word, then the warrant is executed – along with the deserter. Nice idea, Catman, but I’mnot entirely sure it would work in the real world.
Question, Catman. The “they” referred to in panel 8; is that the fleet? The invasion? Not sure of the antecedent for “they”. Would you (or anybody, really) jog an old fart’s memory?
Aadam’s statement makes another hypothesis of mine even more unlikely — that the victims of these “mods” are in fact NOT dead, but something even worse from my point of view — they’re keeping the brat’s limbs alive for them until the fashion changes. It’s reasonable that if rejection isn’t an issue one way, it isn’t the other either, that the Cats are both universal donors and universal recipients. Having to live knowing you were going to die and were only alive to keep parts of your abusers alive… hideous. But if that were the case it is very likely he would know about it, between his social circles and his government connections.
On the other hand, if it WERE true, it would complicate the plans for the evening hideously if they found out ahead of time — they might decide they had to keep the brats alive until they could locate and rescue their victims, to do the swap-back, just not exactly the way or the reason the monsters expected.
That might have been the plan in the beginning, but after the first few discovered what was pointed out in yesterday’s panel 5, it was decided not to go to the expense. The limb transplants are a byproduct of the medical transplants, anyway. Captured Cats are not that common, and the demand for replacement parts, hearts, lungs, livers, etc is pretty high.
I think Aadam is looking more like a ally.
Adam for the Save!
The Cat in the first panel looks a bit annoyed at his words. But I think he’ll get over it.
His ear in panel 6.
He’s paying attention.
