Get David another bottle and he’ll agree to anything.
    “Damn this one’s empty.” (David)
It looks like all systems go for the settlements.
    Ships just came through.

” I’m busted and pissed off, I need a drink but would that asshole
let me? I don’t care I NEED one ASAP!” truly pathetic huh…

I seen those, a collection though, not just more of the same stuff.
At least one looked like a wine rather than a strong liquor.

I figured as much, that poor kid was his last nerve for these mindless
extra-far-left types. I’m sure once he takes over, the board will get
whittled away and the “problem children” will be “asked” to go away.

I like the fact she said they have built the clinic and will start on
the school BEFORE building homes, that new sub-division near
us was built first, there is a grade school, but it’s barely big
enough to handle 50-75 students, much less what the first batch
    of 50 homes can produce!

It is VERY nice to see King Jon and the Cep’le talking like that,
means there is hope for them. Now that the platforms are producing
product, things will start to speed up. and now with the return of
the Imperial ships, training can begin in full swing!

      >there is a grade school, but it’s barely big enough to handle 50-75 students

When we moved in, the large field in front of us was planned for a high school.
By the time they started breaking ground, they had decided they did not need
all that space for class rooms, and had sold off a strip of land. After just one
year of actual classes, they were were out of room and had converted a parking
lot to mobile homes setup for teaching. My (very cynical) assumption is the
school board had a buddy on the city council who wanted to “help” a friendly
developer. Would imagine just coincidence that developer was a big campaign
      contributor :{

My school system was spread out between 3 buildings, the high school
was suppose to support 400 but that only worked if the classes were
large, one hit 40 students but more were 32-35. so it was the same thing,
trailers in the parking lot. they did add to the high school, but the 6th
grade class had to start in middle school. it was crazy my class was the first.

    “…ruthless…..”
“Well, my name is not Ruth, and I don’t know any Ruths in the
immediate area, so, for this one, you’re right, I’m Ruthless.”

I read your post (waxing whimsical are we?) and decided
to look it up. Here’s what I found.

Interestingly, the word “ruth” is related to the very old
      Germanic verb “rue.”

Rue means to affect with sorrow or to grieve. It’s been
used in different ways throughout the centuries, but
generally when we hear it today, it has to do with looking
back on something with regret. For example, “I rue the
day Cousin Oliver showed up on the Brady Bunch.”

Shark jumping aside, if you take “rue” and tack on the
suffix “th,” you get ruth. In this case, the suffix is the
same one we see in other verbs that have been
transformed into nouns — including growth, health,
      and truth.

So, that’s how we get ruth — a noun meaning mercy
or sorrow. From there, tack on a couple more suffixes,
and we get ruthless, meaning without compassion or
mercy, and the long forgotten ruthful which means to
be filled with compassion or pity.

Bill, I was trying to riff off an old Fireside Theatre
(remember them? in the 60s?) audio play
“Nick Danger Third Eye”, one of the lines was (IIRC)
” ….relentlessly, ruthlessly, (I wonder where Ruth is?),
        doggedly (ARF! ARF! ARF!)…. ”
Obviously my memory must stretch back a little farther
then many here, and in different directions.

Oh those were very popular, A lot of variety shows copied
that idea for humor. I think it was all because JFK did that
in his public addresses, people liked that and was copied
          to death.

For the past several days I have been working on a plasma cannon
turret to go on the freighter. PC sent me pics which I used to model
my version. It is not a one-to-one copy of the model of which Catman
sent me pics but all in all I think it works.

      A thought, Bill.
Mounted on arms like that, could one suspect a certain momentum –
think firing a shotgun with straight arms (holding it one hand
somewhere around the trigger, the other holding the barrel(s)),
standing on a platform which can rotate. Get the picture?
If those buggers have any recoil(?),
your craft would be spinning somewhat fiercely.
A pilot I once met, talked about the A-10 Warthog ‘almost stopping
in the air’ when that MoFu big ‘peashooter’ they had were fired.

Even lasers, if their output is high enough, can have recoil. Ion thrusters
are just a strong flow of directed electrons. Lasers are photons which do
have a very tiny amount of mass, which is why “light speed” is an issue.
A swivel mount makes sense Bill, even if it’s only a 50-60 degree turn it
would create a wider AOE for the craft. Also it would allow for more than
one gun to aim at a target.

Well, that model was made from screen caps PC sent me
so they are what he ordered. Second they are going on the
crew cab of the freighter. The crew cab alone is 30 meters
in diameter and 50 meters long. It is mounted on the end
of a 1,050 ft long spine with the mass of the engineering
section including reaction engines tacked on for good
measure. Doubtless the things would have some appre-
ciable recoil but on something like the fully loaded freighter
I doubt anyone would notice. Fully loaded The freighter
can haul 108 cargo pods. I don’t want to try to calcu-
late the total mass but my visualization is something
like a small field gun being fired on a big bulk
container freighter. If you fired the gun at the bow
would someone in the wheel house feel it?

Also, Jan. Go to the “Characters” page of the comic. At the bottom
is a graphic of an Imperial Wyvvern class vessel. Look closely at
what is on the black bands fore and aft. There are missile turrets
and “plasma cannon” turrets. I’ve executed both and an awaiting
word from the Catman about their size. I sent him renders with
human figures to the same scale. I’m sort of thinking that they
are currently a tad large. Fortunately once a model is mostly com-
plete scaling is a trivial matter. When I’m working I use a 1 grid
square = 1ft scale but when I ship models to PC I upscale them
by a factor of 31. I know, odd number “31” but when I scale the
figure he sent me down to 6 units tall I have to scale it down by
a factor of 0.032258 which is (approximately) the reciprocal of
        31. I also have to reorient the models so they are properly ori-
ented in the software PC uses to do the renders. When I first
started making things for him he complained that they were too
small and oriented incorrectly. So when I get ready to export a
model to PC I upsize it by a factor of 31 and reorient it such that
a “front” view shows the model as if it were on its back with its
head towards me. Oh and that factor of 31? Entirely empirically
        derived. Lots of “cut-and-try”!

It was just a thought that came up when I saw the picture on DevianArt, Bill.
That, and the comment of that pilot years ago. The idea of an aircraft that size
and the influence a bunch of metal ‘pellets’ thrown away more or less center of
mass could have. He also told a story of a ‘tank carcass’ hit by ‘a couple’ of aluminium
blanks, which literaly jumped in the opposite direction of the incoming bullets.

Again, it is PC’s universe. Things can happen (or be) that will not be possible
          ‘around here’… 🙂

I didn’t mean to holler at you, Jan. I was just explaining
why things were as they are. I don’t think something the
size (mass) of that freighter would notice the recoil of
anything smaller than a big naval gun. FYI I once saw a
photo of an Iowa class battleship firing all 9 16 inch guns
at once in a broadside. Moved the whole ship several feet
sideways. I would not have wanted to have been where
those shells landed. Nope! Not anywhere in the vicinity!
