Okay, I know they’re dogs but “Whiiiine” and “Whimper”? C’mon, PC, isn’t that just a bit much?
Something tells me the Legion ISN’T going to be an option for the ones who survived the “encounter” with Jonathan and company. I kinda hope the victim survived but then I kinda hope she didn’t. You know?
I’ve always been partial to having the perp “run the gauntlet” of the parents and those who personally knew the victim. Weapons can be anything those in the gauntlet line up can pick up, wield , and swing. The perp is left lying where they fell in the street overnight. If he/she/it survives, then they’re picked up, brushed off, and brought to trial as-is, no clean up, no medical attention. If they DON’T survive, then he body is fed to the hogs.
One could, in his/her mind’s eye, picture a hanging where the hangee (is that an actual word?) is fixed to a lightpole from a personel-lift which is then lowered.
Oh wait, PC already used this (Sharon Hunter and the not-vampire (forgot his name).
The concept also works with the lift from the back of a delivery-truck…
Please explain: what do you native-english-speakers call those?
The one with the basket to stand in is often called a cherry-picker.
The one on the back of a box van is sometimes called a liftgate.
But regions vary in their terminology,
Oh, come on, I rarely get over-the-top.
I mean really, how many times has that happened?
(Going through 850+ pages and counting should keep you busy for a while.)
I like how you’re commenting on the old pages,
I go through them myself when I do a re-read.
It’s why I decided I like this universe and the
people in it 🙂 And of course the like-minded in
the comments…
“Captain, I will be very pleased to accept your dinner invitation”
A wise acceptance, indeed.
From what we’ve learned previously, these are family ships as well as pirate vessels. And any species that doesn’t respect family doesn’t live long.
.. i’m going with,, Inner worlds, Paka recognized the dreadnaught, then the cruisers.. they don’t know the fighters are there ,, and i doubt they know what Terran ships are.. except by tonnage..
also they don’t know “Terran weapons” ,, to be coming in ‘hot’…
I like how the police officer listens to Chira (no poo-poo’ing) and gets down to Chira’s level and talks to her as an equal, asking intelligent questions.
poor Paka… they just keep coming..

Wet dirt and fish smells. I’m thinking river banks. That’s still a lot of territory to search.

The fish smell I took to be old semen. The wet earth I’m not sure about, but I’ve never studied forensics work.
I’m waiting to see if this is Wolf Empire backup or Inner Worlds gunship diplomacy coming in hot.

I expect you are right.
