I read somewhere that it is old men who start wars while it young men (and now women) who fight (and die) in them. So far as I can tell, that has been the rule from time immemorial and the rule does not appear likely to change. There will always be predators and prey, whether on the individual scale (crooks, thieves, muggers, murderers, etc.), the local scale (BLM,AntiFa etc.) or on the scale of nation-states. The best that we members of society can hope for is a dedicated cadre of sheepdogs willing and ready to do violence on our behalf.
And teach the citizens that they are their own first defense.
Allow them the tools that they need for that, and the knowledge to use them wisely.
That’s why education is important, and understanding of history so vital.
Good and bad, as long as it’s true and complete.

We have become soft and complacent. It’s going to take a massive kick in the ass to straighten this society out, or destroy it.
