I would think that the alterations to Catian culture and tradition to function under the Imperial Constitution should be minimal. King’s constitution provides for maximal liberty. I expect the member nations of the Empire would function in a manner similar to subject nations in the Ottoman Empire (not that it was such a hotbed of individual liberty) and that the Empire would exercise minimal control. I LIKE King. He is my kind of leader/ruler/supervisor – a true lassez faire leader as I was. So long as things were quiet in the shops over which I was NCOIC and I didn’t smell smoke I was content to assign jobs and let the guys work. I would expect that one of the major no-nos would be war among member states. Short of that I do not expect that King would let things roll along in the member states because King has neither the desire, inclination, time nor manpower to micromanage the Empire.
Agreed. My stints in supervision and management roles were always begun with these directions to the people who reported to me:
1) If you have a problem with someone above you or outside of our group, bring it to me. My job is to take obsticles out of your way.
2) Let me know when a project is completed, or you need help completing it.
3) Your job is to make me look good. If I look good, your paycheck will look good, because I will get more resources allocated to the group.
I forgot for a moment: Terrans, not Humans. I have to wonder why there is so little diversity among the other Human planets — unless Earth IS the original homeworld and for some reason only the ancestors of Northern Europeans participated in the Diaspora. Maybe it’s the other way around, and Earth is the way it is because there are more mutagens — background radiation for instance — than elsewhere and it’s just that the root ancestors of humanity resembled Celts and Teutonics. Doesn’t fit the real-world fossil record, but this is a fictional history anyway.
It’s (not) funny how the more humane and antiseptic we make executions (appear), the more ‘civilized’, the less of a deterrent they are. The Empire has already restored public hangings — and with a short rope. Ultimately, that and things like The Hunt may be for the betterment of Society, driving home the DON’T DO THAT message. Let them fade into history when the behaviors they discourage fade there.
All races, Human, Dragon, and the other aliens began on the same planet. As their populations increased, so did disputes between them.
With the discovery of wormholes, they agreed to go their own ways. Earth is a “lost” colony, which the dragons kept hidden because
they wanted to see if Humans were naturally evil, or it was cultural.
That’s why they put up a warning beacon at the wormhole in Slaver space. It wasn’t legal, but Dragons are known to disregard the rules when it suits them. https://thegentlewolf.net/comic/tgw-182/

The variations in Catian attire interests and amuses me. Some seem to wear a clan ‘uniform’, others look like they’re out for a night on the town.
