That did feel more like a summons rather than an invite, and Julie isn’t
fighting it, good. Better to come off as curious than shifty.
Interesting, I’m sure by now Catia’s ship-building facilities are on par
with Earth’s but it’s still going to take time to build and train them on
their use. They already know the basics, but those ships have many
controls and functions the core ships don’t. I still want to “clench up”
a certain way when a core member gets near an Imperial ship, but
they can’t reverse-engineer one without being stranded or missing one.
It’d be kinda noticeable…
They can’t reverse-engineer one anyway. There are too many
security features built in. The Navy has several scientists
who’s sole job is to try, and they haven’t succeeded yet.
and, i would say,. since the science is so radical.
no one thought to look that way.. i mean look at
Nikola Tesla, 80 years dead, an no one figured
out a few of his, and they have the blueprints.!!
This is the problem I have with ‘reverse engineering’ of alien devices
in most science fiction. Assuming that aliens come to Earth from
Star Systems hundreds or thousands of light years away, their tech
is likely to be significantly different from what we have today.
Imagine plonking a B-2 stealth bomber down in World War I Europe.
They would be able to figure out that its a flying machine,
but not a lot more. This is only a difference in tech of a bit more
than a hundred years. For aliens? Likely hundreds or thousands of
years of difference.
The very basis of the alien technology could also be completely different.
Possibly using biological in place of electronics, crystalline structures
rather than metallics, or even devices that work with different senses than
those that we have.
The principles that their systems work on maybe something we don’t even
have the brain structure to understand.
Some of that to is either the elements used or the alloys, one system
may have more of a certain type of metals that another hasn’t any or it’s
extremely rare. You might figure out the more basic stuff, but the major
systems might take parts we simply can’t make. I’d be like RL us trying
to reverse-engineer the TOS warp drive, dylithum doesn’t exist in our
system in both universes.
B2.. WWI bad choice,. about the only thing unknown is the composite
skin,. IF Nikola Tesla got it he would point out the stuff he invented.!
oh and the “Metallurgy” of the engines. they did have turbines, just
not built like that.
no,, it would be like dropping the B2 in the Aztec Empire…
I know, I was just saying they could try, and screw themselves in the process.
Smart and wise are 2 different things in any universe. There’s still things
they could learn from dismantling a Imperial ship, like the kitty-littler
missiles. Sure, the drive, AI, and the control units are covered,
but what about the rest?
Any exploitable weaknesses in the weapons or defenses might come to light.
Sorry, I keep hearing a certain robot yelling “Danger, Will Robinson, Danger!”
I knew it had a name (so to speak), but I guess no one liked it.
I was a real fan of the show as a kid, but watching it now just
seems a bit disappointing. They had to spend so much on
costumes and sets, they really couldn’t afford decent writers,
so the latter shows were just stuck in a rut. “Monster of the
week” kind of thinking. Even as a boy the whole “Crush, Kill,
Destroy” robit man… thing was just plan silly to me.
One thing though looking back, I think it was the first time
the “helpless screamer” cast member was a man rather than
a pretty girl.
Alike minds Jochi, I had the VERY same thought!
The movie at least had a guy that acted like a
villain! And they STILL bothered to save him…
(sadly shakes head)
Major West: “Hey Smith, you wanna see Judy’s
Daffy duck?”
Smith: (blushes) I have no idea what you are
talking about”
“C’mon you’ll love it! Follow me”
(Both go outside the ship)
“Since the missiles were useless, Judy
reprogrammed them to act as signal flares
like those fancy firework shows, you’ll love
it”
“Fireworks, REEeeelly?
“Sure! just wait there and I’ll go over here
so she can see me”
West walks away.
Smith hears an odd beeping sound and he’s suddenly
thrown 50 feet into the air, becoming the pupil in
Daffy’s eye. Laughing, West goes back inside and fires
up the Jupiter’s engines…
Hmm. It wasn’t really an invitation, now was it Julie?
We still don’t know what his plan entails yet, do we?
Wasn’t even worded as one. I suspect Woodman called it. She’s recruited/drafted.
Welcome to the Imperial Intelligence Agency, Julie!

umm Dilithium (Li2) does exist.! just not as the Crystal form.

Robot B9.
was named G.U.N.T.E.R.
General Utility Non-Theorizing Environmental Robot
nobody remembered an just called robot..

Rewatching it now, I keep finding myself saying “OK, is THAT the final straw?
Just KILL him.”

I must of pissed-off the “God of Filter,” that’s twice in 2 days.
When you get time…
