I used to ride in my youth. Never had a big ol’ thunka-thunka like that though. Last bike I had was a Honda 650 Nighthawk with a fork-mount faring. Nothing better’n taking a scooter don winding roads. Lotsa beautiful scenery and winding roads around Austin. I kinda miss it. Don’t miss trying to stay alive on the interstate, though. One day, driving home from Round Rock to my home in south Austin, I nearly got pranged 4 times. Only reason I wasn’t as a combination of above-average situational awareness and native paranoia (probably at least part of the first reason for the first quality). Anyhow, when I got home I decided that the hassle factor of riding officially outweighed the fun factor. Put an ad in the paper and sold the bike the next weekend. {sigh} I miss it but I don’t miss having to look out for nincompoops who have no clue who/what they’re sharing the road with.
The best insurance I’ve ever found I bought in a pawn shop.
When I first bought my Sporty, it seemed as if I couldn’t go for a ride without at least one close call with an ignorant or inattentive driver.
After four months of that, I bought a GoPro in a pawnshop and mounted it to my helmet. Have only had two close calls since in two years.
People will claim that they didn’t see the motorcycle, or the lights, or the bright orange vest.
But they sure do notice that little black box on the side of my helmet.
The doom and gloom press makes everything look dangerous. Maybe USA is dangerous
as that, or the imperial lands after the Fall is especially dangerous. As a contrast
i would like to recommend the Youtube channel “Itchyboots”. Noraly, a woman from
Netherlands decided 7 years ago to fly to India, by a Motorcycle (Royal Enfield Himalaya)
and go on a world tour. Alone. She posts two times a week a video taken by her gopros.
She travelled through India, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia. By ship to Oman. to the
Emirates. By ship to Iran. All the -stans, then from Kazakhstan through Russia, Kaukasus,
Turkey, Balkan, Netherlands. Next tour was from Patagonia to Alaska. But she had to
pause for corona. She got a new bike, Honda 300 this time. Short tour in South Afrika. then
Skandinavia. Then went back to finish her tour of the Amerikas in north Alaska. Now she is
on Afrika Tour. Started in Morokko, all down the african westcoast, Nigeria, Kameroon, Congo,
Angola, Sambia, Malawi. then a break and some weeks on Madagaskar with a rented bike from
there. Back to Malawi, Tansania and now she got an accident. Mostly nice people where
you dont expect it and great help with repairs.
The thing about drivers in the USA is many seem to let
their IQ’s drop sharply once they hear their motor start.
They don’t check their blind spots or just don’t respect
riders at all. Every single time I go to town during rush
hour I get cut off or some other stupidity by people in
a hyper rush just to get home. I watched one idiot pass
a fully loaded big dump truck and them cram on their
brakes to make a right turn in front of the truck…
Death-wish anyone?
Nice work on the late-afternoon lighting!
Hmmm. Lir Living tech, should have no problem finding one of them.

Unfortunately, that was back about ’86-’87. Weren’t no GoPros back then. Hell! AlGore hadn’t even invented the internet yet!
I’m wondering if when she regains consciousness will Teresa be able to POIT (Teleport) like her small friend Dagger.
